World     Fuel     Cell     Challenge:

[W.F.C.C.]

The W.F.C.C. deals with and is now creating three[3] main categories of hydrogen fuel cell car racing;

The first most timed is category "1" involving model fuel cell/battery/capacitor hybrid fuel cell car building and racing, by primary and secondary schools within Australia.[2007 start]; this is planned to involve schools from all over the world from year 2007.

The second category "2" involves "Go-Kart" size racing by groups and teams from within Australia and all over the world. Prototypes will start in year 2007/8 along with demonstrations and realistically the first initial races should  commence in year 2009.

The third "3" is below,

This is the most challenging of all, being a ~4,000 Kl journey across Australia. All teams from Australia and the world will supply their own hydrogen produced from solar and or wind energies. [Anticipated start year 2009]

1.From Sydney to Perth -[~4,000kls by road].

2.All teams must produce and supply their own hydrogen using only renewable wind and or solar energy.

3.The vehicles can be hybrid fuel cell vehicles [includes battery/capacitor] incorporating regenerative braking, computer simulations, power management and electronics,  aerodynamics, enviro-materials, brushless motors,   and innovative designs.

4.All vehicles will be fully built by entrants. Entrants will invariably include teams from colleges and universities.

5.The program is designed to result in A./ Superior zero emission fuel cell and or hybrid fuel cell vehicles for the mass market by year 2015 and B./ Growing usage of renewable hydrogen production for such vehicles.

All racing categories will be integrated to maximise momentum, education, industrial developments, and environmental sustainability.

Fourth "4"[added Feb 2007].

Hydrogen fuel cell bicycle racing.

Fifth"5"[added Feb.2007]

Hydrogen fuel cell motor-bike racing

Start up scenario:

Zero Emission Racing: This involves using model radio controlled [RC] combustion engine powered cars and  combustion engine powered  go-karts, using alternate fuels like ethanol, blended ethanol, diesel, blended diesel, natural gas and even hydrogen subject to engine design. The next step is to progress this and change over and or add electric fuel cell hybrid power to both go-kart and model RC cars. Racing then follows with teams racing their respective type and alternative fuel selection.
